(From Our Own CoriMpondMt) °.~^ NELSON; 21st Januarys ~1 The Nelson Harbour Board met on Wedi nesday. The British Imperial Oil Com* pany s representative attended- the meet* ing m connection with the company's offer of £300 per 'annum for two acres of\ land. The board decided to lease two acres at a rental.of £350 per annum on conditions already set out, and with an assurance that any competing S company would not be charged less rental. _The managing director of the Anchor Company waited on the board regarding the company's proposal to build new ofnces. It was resolved that a lease of the site (the old Union Company site) for tea years, with a perpetual right of renewal, with revaluation at the expiration of each, ten years, be granted, the rental to be 8 per cent, on the unimproved value. " The Education Department has declined an application by the Nelson Board for al grant of £2000 to convert the Shelbourne tstreet bchool into office premises for tha board. ■ Th& Nelson Horticultural Society's summer show opened on Thursday. The cham-' i pion spike of gladiolus was awarded to «' specimen of "King Pearr' exhibited by Mrs. P. Chalhs. A collection of Western' Australian everlasting flowers is exhibited fe Dr R. J. Tillyard.
