TO-NIGHT'E ATHLETIC MEETING.
A fine programme of events has been arranged for the electric light sports meeting to be held at the Basin Reserve this evening. As a preliminary to the provincial championships, the meeting, should provide much of interest on the athletic side. Jenkins and Fleming will be competing in the sprints, Kyle in the 440, Campbell and Allan in the BSO, Priestley and Wilson in the mile, and Sutherland, Seeats, and Munro in the field events. The "star" events, of course, will be the two scratch cycle races, featuring Lamb, the Australian record breaker, Gross, the New_ Zealand champion, and Flett, the Wellington champion. Lamb has now struck form, and should do very well, but both Gross and l'lett are reported to be in proper trim.' This will be Lamb's last appearance in Wellington. The ladies' events will also attract much attention, Miss Porter, the New Zealand champion' who is running exceedingly well at present, will be a competitor.
