AUSTRALIAN SILVER BAND.
What strikes one most forcibly, in connection, with the, forthcoming. visit of the Australian Commonwealth Band to this city.is the unanimity with which the Press ; critics ■of ■ the various countries that the band has ' visited during its tour around the world acclaim, it to be the best of. its kind, ever heard in their, respective cities.. In Australia,,the Melbourne ."Argus" re-, taarked on its range i "from 'dramatic in--tensity' o£. Wagiieriari music, to tones resembling a .huge organ," ."perfect, sym-' phonic orchestration." In Africa, the Natal . "Mercury" (Durban) said: '"The performance was nothing less than.brilliant, and a notable feature was the effect, with which the string effects were produc-; cd." In Canada, the .Montreal "Gazette" said: "The 1 ensemble effects achieved were magnificent, ranging from the sonorous tone of a great organ to flute-like delicacy." In U.S.A. the "Rochester Times" (New York) said: "It seemed :to play better than any other band ever heard here." The Australian band will* open a: season of three nights in the Town Hall on Tuesday night next. The box plan will be opened at The Bristol on Friday. ' :
