DEATHS IN MELBOURNE AND ADELAIDE.
(United Press Association.—Copyright.)'SYDNEY, 12th January.' A' heat wave is being experienced irf the southern portion of Australia. Many, elderly peoplo are unable i,o stand the strain. Seven deaths occurred in Ade-' laide, and a. man and a "woman, diedin Melbourne. Hundreds of people slept on .the Victorian beaches last night to escape the stifling indoor air. Patients in hospitals were the worst sufferers. Ambulances were kept busy, owing to peoplo collapsing from the heat. »
ADELAIDE, 12th January. Five additional deaths are reportoj as a result of-the heat \rave, making i^ho total twelve.
