BOXING
Patrons of boxing are to be given aii opportunity of seeing Raymond Jansen, the French lightweight, in action on Friday of next week; when he is to meet Charlie Purdy. The latter is an elusive boxer, and he is sure to make the visitor do his best. Thus patrons should see a contest of more than - average interest. Jansen. has proved the most, successful of a party of French exponents under contract to the Sydney Stadium, and his defeat of Trowern at Palmerston North places his ability beyond question. The box plan will open on Monday niornin.B, and, with an exceptionally heavy demand for seats anticipated, regular, patrons will be will advised to book early.-.!As there will be a large number of visitors to Wellington owing to race week arrangements have been made to allocate a .certain number of seats to those who'desire to attend the tournament.
