GREAT BINGEN'S LATEST,
was' very little bettitfg on the Xew Zealand Championship Free for All, at Whangarei on Saturday (says the "New Zealand Herald"), .and in a pool of- £64 ,10s, Great Bingen was favourite with over half the investments on his chance. .The backers of the favourite received a thrill at the start when he 'failed to, hit' his hopples and, lost about eight lengths. Prince Pointer began well, and at the end of five furlongs he led , Imprint' by six lengths, • with Great Bingen trailing the latter. Great Bingen closed up/along the .back,.and ran to within 'a length of ■Prince Pointer at, the top, where Imprint 'was lieaten off. Once into the straight, .Great Bingen challenged and won amid 'enthusiasm.by about a length from Prince Pointer, with Imprint, who was sore, a Jong way/back. Great Bingen's effort was invested with considerable brilliancy, and he was given an ovation'when led on to the lawn for the prescntation-of the Cup.
