WELLINGTON'S NEW TUG
TROUBLE GETTING A START.
(From Our Own Conospondant.)
LONDON, 20th November.
A few days ago Captain Goodwin, a London man, who is saii to bo of herculean proportions, and. with the commanding voice Of a Captain Kettle, was to have left Fleetwood, in Lancashire, at the mouth of the Wyre, for Wellington, in tho tug Kahamui. This vessel has been built at Glasgow for tho Wellington Harbour Board. It has a registered tonnage of 70, and is 110 ft long, 20ft beam, and a draught of lift. Three postponements of tho start of tho hazardous journey, however, have so far been necessary. On the first date fixed for the departure a gale intervened, and in the afternoon of the same day, when everything was ready, some of the Scotsmen forming the crew decided not to proceed any further with the risk, and left the ship and relumed home to Edinburgh by train.. These having been replaced by Fleetwood fishermen, and the crew completed, the next attempt was timed-to begin on tho following day. It was then discovered that there were some defects to be attended to, and work has been proceeding on the vessel. Some 45 tons of Belgian briquettes have been -taken on board for fuel. The first call on the journoy will be Vigo, in Spain, and the whola journey is expected to take ninety days.
