DE LUXE THEATRE.

Scandal and movie stars, with reporters looking for front-page stories., while jealous husbands and equally jealous wives make trouble in several odd corners, all go to make up the polyglot plot of ''Her Big Night," screening finally this evening at the Do Luxe Theatres. Miss Laura La . Plante, who plo.ys the main role, adds fresh laurels ,to her already popular career, and though supported by a clever and versatile cast, is always the chief character before the audience. Also on the programme is an International News, which deals on this occasion mostly with American news, but is distinctly interesting and informative. The comedy, "Snookum's Tooth," is very humorous and found almost as much favour with the audience as" did the chief picture on the programme. The Orchestra De Luxe, under the leadership of Miss A. Bryerc, plays incidental music that is bright and pleasing. "ROLLING HOME." A critic says "Rolling Home,," which will commence screening at the De Luxe Theatre to-morrow, with a rmitinee on Saturday at 2.30, is without any doubt Reginald Denny's funniest picture, being far funnier than any of his previous pictures, starting with a bang and a hearty, laugh, gathering more laughs as it .goes, like a snowball gathering snow. Situation is piled upon situation with the comedy growing at each new scene, until the audience begins to wonder vaguely if the hero ever can be extricated from the hopeless tangle in which he has become involved. Jußt when he has the difficult situation nicely in hand, his whole house of cards is toppled over by the cold blast of truth. There ia a furore of laughter in every foot of film—never a chance to finish a laugh before another laugh is on the way. Nothing merrier or more mirthnrovoking than Denny in his latest creation has been experienced. The picture is greatly enhanced from a visual point of view by the presence of charming littleMarion Nixon, and by the performances given by E. J. Ratcliffe, Ben H.endncks, jun., Margaret Seddon, George Nichols, Alfred Allen, George Marion, and others. "Rolling Home" in- a Universal special attraction. A carefully selected supporting programme has been arranged, the musical programme also being of a. high standard. '• The box plans are open at The Bristol, Aitken'a Book Arcade,, or ring theatre. Commencing on Friday, 24th December, at a matinee at 2.30, and then nightly and each afternoon, Douglas Fairbanks will be •een at; the De Luxe Theatre in his greatest contribution to the screen, "The Black Pirate." Never before in hie career has this famous star appeared in a photo-play that hag given him such a splendid opportunity for his art. . The fact that the picture ia in colour, has made possible splendid "atmosphere'- besides. High adventure, appealing romance, gripping drama, and mystifying intrigue are included. A vivid story of the rolling ocean, it carries the spirit of conquest and love. This picture is easily the most appealing role Douglas Fairbanks e\er acted, and includes pirates and buried treasure. Several years of preliminary work were required to gather the material, to build ( ships, and to study the many details necessary to make the picture a-true representation of piratical higtory. The box plans open at The Bristol, Aitken's Book Arcade, or ring the theatre. ,
