TIMARU, 15th December. - The first Timaru wool-sale of the season was hold to-day before a bench of about 80 buyers, representing Bradford, Continental, American, and local markets. A catalogue of 10,276 bales was practically all disposed of, passings being negligible. The-wool was bright-and attractive, and stronger in quality than that of tho offering at the first nalo last year. This, is due to the abundance of foed and the good winter. Competition, was very keen for all classes of halfbrods and merinos, which" realised good prices. Threc-quar.terbreds wore fjlsio sought after, but crossbrods wore not in demand. The sale, was in all respects a Bpund one, and the prices showed an advance of about a penny on the recent Christchurcti sale. The following is the range of prices: —Merino: Pieces,-good to superior, 16d to 17:} d; low to. medium, 13d to 15d; bellies, good to superior, 121 dto 33£ d; low to medium, 8d to 12d." Half bred: Pieces, good to super, 143 dto 17d; low to ' medium, 12Jd to 13£ d. Crossbred: Pieces, good to super. 10d'to "lid; orutehings, medium to good, 7jd to '9d: inferior. (5d to 74d. Locks: halfbred, G& to 8d; crossbred, CJd to 7|d. Thrco-quarterbreds: Super, Isid to 16icl; averago, 13id to 15d; medium, 104 dto 13d. Merino: Super, 19d to 26id; average, 17d to 18id; medium, 16d to 16Jd. Corriedalo: 17kl to 18id: average,, 16d to 17} d. Fine half bred:-Super/19d to 20Jd; average, 17^1 to 18id; medium, 16d to 17^1. Medium halfbred: Super. 17d .to I8$d; averago. J4d to 16Jd. Coarse halfbred: Super, 14d to• 15Jd; average, Ud to 13|d. Fine crossbred: Super, 18id to 14id; average; lid to 12d: medium, 9Jd to IOJd.
