PABIS, 9th December
The Maoris defeated Limoges by 34 points to 7. They scored eight trios, five of which were converted, to a try, and a potted goal. The New Zealandcrs dominated their' opponents, who were drawn from the three local clubs —Limousit, Perigord, and Agon—and made an excellent showing. On the dry turf they showed great speed, and practically won the match in the first few minutes.
A forward lush resulted in a. try, and then Pelham twice crossed. Phillips scored almost immediately afterwards, and a fifth try followed rapidly. Four of these were converted. Limoges rallied desperately, and in an attack carried the ball within three yards of the Maori line. The Maori threequarters broke away, however, and Falwasser ran the length of the field and scored. At half-time the score was: Maoris 26, Limoges 0.
The French defence improved in the Becond half, and though they countered many rushes, their attacks failed badly owing to the •weakness of the threequarter line. Once they pierced the defence and scored an unconverted try in the corner. Later they also obtained a potted goal. Towards the end the Maoris stowed up, and this alone prevented annihilation. They were content with two tries, one of which was converted.
The Maori team was:—Phillips; Falwasser, Pelham, Grace; Wineera, Mete; Kingi; Bell; Olsen, Dennis, Crawford, Wilson, Matene, Manihera, Tatana.
A. special aircraft display was given at the famous Croydon Aerodrome, near London, on 23rd October, for the benefit of the Prime Ministers attending the Imperial Conference. The picture shows Mr. Coates In conversation with Mrs. Elliott-Lynn, the first Englishwoman to own and fly her own aeroplane.
