SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS

ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION.

Wellington veterans of the South African War met in the R.S.A. rooms last evening for the annual meeting of their association. The president (Mr. L. L. de Launay) was in the chair, and there was a fair attendance.

The annual report and balance-sheet, details of which have been published in "The Post," were adopted. In moving their adoption, the chairman said that during the past year the association had affiliated with the R.S.A., a step which had been favourably received by all the branches. "We wish to work in with the R.S.A. as much as possible, more than in name," he pid. From views expressed by the executive, he believed they would endeavour to introduce some means of bringing about a closer unity between the two associations. The chairman went on to refer to the apathy shown by many members in regard to subscriptions. Out of 210 members on the roll, only 62 were financial, he said.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —Patrons, General Sir Alfred Robin and General Hart; president, Mr. L. de Laun&y; vice-presidents, Major Hardham, V.C., Major P. de B. Brandon, 0.8.8., T.D., Captain Neilson, Sister MacGregor; hon. secretary, and treasurer, My. J. I. Goldsmith; hon. .chaplain, Lieut.Coolnel D. C. Bates; committee, Captain J. J. dark, Messrs. J.
