PROMOTIONS AND TBANSFBBS,
Tho following promotions and transfors in tho Police Force have been notified:—
Inspector Murray, New Plymouth, is promoted to bo superintendent, and is transferred to Dunedin to take charge, vice Superintendent Matheson (deceased). Inspector D. C. Eraser, Greymouth, takes his place at New Plymouth.
Promoted to the rank of inspector. Sub-Inspector L. E. 0 'Halloran, of Dunedin, is transferred to take charge at Greymoiith, his place at Dunedin being taken by Senior-Sergeant J. Fahey, of Timaru, who is promoted to the rank of sub-inspectcy. Chief-Detectivo T. Gibson, Christchurch, at his own request, is transferred from the'detective branch to the corresponding rank of sonior-sergeant iii tho uniformed service. Ho will go to Timarn to replace Senior-Sergeant Fancy. Chief-Detective W. E. Lewis, transferred from Dunedin for health reasons, fills the vacancy at Christchurch, i
Senior-Detective D. Cameron, of Wellington, is transferred to Dunedin, with the rank of chief-detective.
Sergeant D. B. Murray takes charge of the Addington station, being transferred from South Dunedin, his place there being filled by Sergeant C. H. Lennon, transferred from Lawrence. Lawrence, having no further need for a sergeant, will bo in chargo of Constable M. Hodgins, from Lytteltoi). Constable J. F. Grant goes to Terrace- End, Palmerstoii North,-his place at Maugawoka being taken by Constable F. J. O'Donnoghue, from Wanganui. .Constable B. B. S. Palmer goes from Waimate to take charge of the St. Kilda station, Dunedin, replacing Constable Smith, who is retiring as medically unfit. Constable F. Forsythe, Christchurch, replaces Constable Palmer.
The new station at St. Holier's Bay, Auckland, will bo in charge of Conatablo F. Hargrcaves. Constable TV. Houston goes to Eeefton from Waiutn, being, replaced by Constable J. A. Paddy. To supervise the Panmure district, Temporary-Constable T. C. Neild goes from Dnrgaville to Otahuhu,* Constable A. Hodgcus taking his place.
The following acting-detectives arc promoted to the rank of detective, remaining at their present stations:—A. Allen (Christchurch), \V. Cane (Wellington), J. C. Jtu.iscll (Dunedin), .T. A. Moon (Auckland), and A. J. White (Auckland).
