SOVIET POLICY

HOSTILITY TO BRITAIN

LEAGUE OF NATIONS A TRAP

TCHITCHERIN INTERVIEWED.

(United Press Association.— Copyright.)

(Received 7th December, -.p.m.)

BERLIN, 6th December,

"The Soviet's hostility to Britain is on the principle of the I'rcnclr" proverb: 'This animal' is dangerous, because it defends itself," said M. Tchitcheria in an interview. "The Soviet has repeatedly offered Britain the hand of friendship, but it remains in the air and is not taken. I am unable to restrain homeric laughter when I read of the arguments for membership of the League of Nations, that it is a guarantee against something or other, when it is perfectly, clear that the League only puts greater power in Britain's hands^ The Soviet will not enter into such, a trap. The Soviet has no intention of interfering in China, where nationalism has sprung from' the people and i» not inspired by the Soviet."
