EMPRESS THEATRE.
The present programme afc the Empress Theatre stars "The Blind Goddess" mid "Black Cyclone," and in addition a uicture of the funeral of Sir James Carroll and the latest Pathe Gazette are shown. The story of "The Blind Goddess" portrays the romance of a young lawyer, who is forced to sacrifice the girl he loves to adhere to his ideal of duty. The^ wellchosen cast includes Jack Holt, Esther Ralston, Ernest -Torrance, and Louise Dresser. "The Sea Beast" will be shown for a week, commencing next Friday. Tin's picture, adapted from Herman Melville's "Moby Dick," and produced by Warner Brothers under the direction of Millard Webb, has been acclnimol as the most important photoplay of the year. Itdeals with the New England whalers of 1840 who, in their clipper ships, carried the American flag over the seven seas. Barrymore is said to. have contributed another masterpiece of acting to the screen in the role of Ahab Ceeley, the fighting sailor whose towering pride and mighty strength carried him through blistering passion and murderous adventure.
