CARNIVAL AND TUG-OF-WAR.
The numerous patrons of the carnival and tug-of-war contest at St. Francis's Hall, Hill street, last night appreciated the excellent programme arranged. Tbe tug-of-war excited the greatest interest, the audience applauding vigorously for their' favourites. Toohill's team overcame Dealey's ream by 12 inches, after a good pull; and Meech's. team defeated the Nomads team by six inches. The military manoeuvres, specially arranged by Mr. Joe Knowsley, provided much entertainment, while the various games and side-shows were well patronised. The carnival will last till 29th November. There will be a special matinee this afternoon.
