BREACHES OF AWARD

Claiming that Thomas Breunan, licensee of the Britannia Hotel, had failed to pay an employee proportionate holiday allowance, and had also failed to pay special overtime to several employees who had worked on the King's Birthday, Mr. E. T. Bailey, of the Labour Department, proceeded against him in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. After hearing the evidence of Mr. C. P. Smith, Inspector of Awards, in support of the claim, the Magistrate (Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) imposed a penalty of £1 in each case.

A penalty of £1 was also imposed on B. D. Gerondis, who was charged with failing to pay an oinployec proportionate holiday allowance.
