Tho bidding at the start was not brisk, but consistent, and competition w.as solid. _ The prices on the whole coincided with the Wellington sale. The Continental demand was moro prominent with Bradford in the running, but not to a marked extent. Little was heard from America, and Japan was silent from the first. Out of a catalogue of 3-174 bales, 94 lots were passed in. Prices ranged as follow: —Coarse crossbreds, up to 15|d; fine super, from 13d to 14jd; average fine crossbreds, 13d; inferior, from 9d to lid; medium, from 12d to 14d; ' coarse crossbreds, super, up to 12d; coarser low crossbred, 9-Jd to 103 d; fine long wools, from lljd; coarse hoggets, 9M to 12d. No lambs''wool was offered, as it was too early in the season. There was an exceptionally keen demand for pieces of all kinds, and super fine long wool pieces made up to 14£ d; good average crossbred pieces, from 9d to lljd. Later the bidding was more spirited, and a line of Southdown crossbred made 15d and a line of Southdown lGd.
