Platts, a New Zealand Stipendiary Magistrate, lias arrived at Sydney by the steamer Villo do Verdun from Europe. \' Mr. Platts investigated the possibility of Dominion subjects, entering the Diplomatic Service and other professions in view of the changed status of the Dominions. Ho said-that the Diplomatic Serv:;e was closed to the Dominions, and access to the London Civil Service was about as difficult. It was easier to enter the Army or the Navy. He found the professions in Britain overcrowded, and Uiri sons of professional men were now often looking to the Dominions for a livelibutd.
