CAPSIZED BY HUBBICANE,
(United Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received sth November, noon.) HAMILTON (Bermuda), 4th Nov. The story of how the British sloop of war, Valerian, was lost, was described at the court-martial of Lieuten-ant-Commander Usher and the survivors, all of whom were honorably acquitted. The Valerian had only a 35-ton reserve of fuel on her return voyage to the Bahamas. As the centre of the hurricane passed a gale bore down on the little craft with a force indescribable. A series of squalls struck the port side, and she heeled over 70 degrees. The wireless was carried away and the engines smothered. The Valerian failed to recover, and turned eompletcly over. ■ The boilers burst. The men clung to the raft through the afternoon and night, many losing hold and disappearing. In the morning nineteen remained, and were rescued.
