FIRE IN MANNERS STREET

At 12,30 a.m. to-day the fire brigade was called to 82-84, Manners street, brick, -wood, and iron three-story premises, owned by the Maurice O'Connor Estate. The outbreak, wliii-Ji oiv-1-natcd in the rear of a draper shop on tho ground floor, occupied by the William Duncan Co., Ltd., was suppressed in very quick time, an excellent save being made. The shop and contents were damaged by fire and water. On the contents and fittings, there is a policy for £4500 in the Norwich Union office, while the building is insured for £1500 in the Phoenix office. The cause of tho outbreak is unknown. A number of fire police, under Lieutenant A. Asker, was in attendance.
