BLENHEIM, This Day. The phenomenal rain in the back country has caused tho biggest flood in the Waihopai for twelve years. At the hydro-elo.ctric works at Benopai, tho raging river topped tho wall of the dam, and poured into the ravine with a tremendous fall. The roar could bo heard for a considerable distance. Tho river rose rapidly during the night and the total rise in the vicinity was thirty feet. The water was actually two feet deep at the intake of the tunnel, and 80 feet abo,ve the normal level of the stream. Little damage was done to the actual works. The river is now falling.
