FLOOD WATERS SUBSIDING,

GKEYMOUTH, This Day. Sunuy weather to-day I\ns averted the flood danger, although the rivers are running high everywhere. The streets near the wharf are flooded, but the water is fast subsiding. Business was temporarily dislocated, but no serious damage has been reported in tho borough. Reports from Blackball show that the traffic bridge, which was only recently repaired, has suffered severely. Three spans have been carried away and two of tho piles. Railway traffic has been suspended indefinitely/There will be serious hardship to tho miners. On the Reefton line there are two washouts. One at the Mawheraiti Bridge is very serious, and the trains are running only to Ikamatua from Greymouth. Several washouts are reported from Otira, notably at Aickens and Rotomanu. The Department expects to get trains through later to-day. The express 13 to run to-morrow, but the passengers will have to transfer at Arthur's Pass washout. The Hokitika line is all clear. Telegraphic communication has been disturbed in all directions. The Buller district is practically cut off from communication. Two inches it rain fell at Greymouth, yesterday. There is a record depth of 29ft of water on the bar as a result of the scouring by the flood. The bar will be workable to-night.
