THE CUP WINNERS.

After the conclusion of the relay races at Hie Wellington College sports yesterday the prizes won during the day Were presented by Mrs. A. C. Gifford; wife of the acting-principal.' Mr. Gifford said that he had received apologies from a, number who were unable to attend the sports. All were exceedingly sorry that Mr. Creswell (the principal) and Mrs. Creswell could not be present. They were missed very much. A notable absentee from the gathering was Mr. J. P. Firth, but Mrs. Firth had been present during part of the afternoon. Among others who had sent apologies were the Hon. E. A. Wright (Minister of Education) and Dr. Marsden. Mr. Gifford thanked the visitors for their attendance, and also the donors of speciajl cups for competition. He was sure the gathering had been as pleasant and as equally successful as those in the past. The cup winners were: — Senior championship: F." S. Bamson; runner-up, A. E. Burd.. Junior championship: H. E. G. Avery. Lady Prendergast Cup: A. E. Burd. Lady Eanfurly Cup: F. S. Ramson. Oram Cup: A. E. Burd, E. H. Lovatt,. J. J. Warring, equal. Knox Gilmer Memorial Cup: W. H. Pickering and V. Dv Chateau, equal. Luke Cup: F. S. Eamson. Sievwright Cup: C. T. Hobson. Webster Challenge Cup: O. Turner. Swimming trophies, and the Whatman Cup, won by the college boxing team at the* recent Territorial and Cadet'tournament, were also presented. At the conclusion of the prize-giving ceremony cheers were given for Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Gifford, the college staff, visitors, non-prize winners, and prize-winners. ,The playing of "God Save the King" brought an excellent day's outing to a close.
