WAGES OF CRIME
PRISONEES SENTENCED.

AUCKLAND, 3rd November. Prisoners were sentenced by Mr. Justice Herdman this morning. Kaymond Francis Woodley Grigg, ior being in possession of moulds for coining money, was sentenced to three years' hard labour, to be concurrent with a three years' reformative imposed last session for theft. Charles Henry Larson, for theft, was sentenced to three months' hard labour. Ernest Albert Turner, for theft of a postal packet at Te Awamutu. was given two years' hard labour. Charles Powell Cooke, for breaking, entering, and theft, wag sentenced to nine months' hard labour. William Matthew, for forgery, was admitted to two years' probation. Peter Dowie, for ihdecent assault on his stepdaughter, was sentenced to two years' hard labour. Alexander Eonald Macdonald, for theft from postal packets in Auckland, was given nine months' hard labour. ; Colin M'Donald, for common assault, was sentenced to three months' hard labour. William Ernest Snelling, for carnal knowledge and indecent assault, was sentenced to three years' hard labour. Thomas Kelly, for breaking, entering, and theft; was admitted to two years' probation. Victor John pSmith and Edward Ernest Green, for receiving stolen property, were sentenced to twelve months' hard labour. Cecil Eaymond Brown, for breaking, entering, and theft, was sentenced to six months' hard labour. James Duff, for receiving stolen ' property, nine months' hard labour; Eric Heath Hunter Taylor, for assault, twelve months' hard labour; Joseph Patrick O-'Ncill, for indecent assault on a male, twelve months' hard labour. George Courteney Bacon, for negligent driving, causing death, was fined £50, in default nine months' imprisonment. His license was suspended for three years.
