INCREASE IN IMPORTS.
During the calendar year 1925, 207,----267 dozen pairs oi adults and children's boots and shoes valued at £926,472 were, imported. These figures represent increases of 33,473 and 84,745 over, those for the previous year, but are slightly below those for 1923. Imports from the United Kingdom, comprise 85, 84, and 82oper cent, respectively of the total figures for tho years 1923, 1924,. and 1925, while 12, 14, and 16 per cent, respectively represent imports from Canada. The majority of the small balance of imports comes from Australia and the United States.
Comparing tho imports with the output of factories in the Dominion, it would appear that for every 10 pairs of boots and shoes (excluding footwear for small children) made in New Zealand in 1925-26, approximately 15 pairs were imported.
