In the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Hill, amid cheers from both sides of the House, asked the Premier, Mr. J. T. Lang, if he had noticed the degrading tendency of a section of the Metropolitan Press; if he thought that competitions, such as "Miss Australia" and "The October Bride," and a thousand others with which they were threatened, had an uplifting tendency; if he was aware that this new journalism was being introduced in the interests of commercialism, and if it was not possible to take action to restore clean, healthy journalism? Mr. Lang replied that h« would give every consideration, to the question
