The Commissioner of Police (Mr. W. B. M'llyenev) has made available the following list of successful candidates in the September examinations qualifying for promotion in the New Zealand Police Force:— Examination qualifying for rank of subinspector: Passed in evidence, prescribed statutes. Police Force Act and regulations, and police and detectives duties: *SeniorSergeant John Fahey, Sergeant William Blake, *Constable Ernest Francis Jones, 'Detective Herbert Henry Russell. Passed in arithmetic, georgraphy, and English: Sergeant Worthy Edward Packer, Detec-tive-Sergeant Edward Francis O'Brien, Constable William John Brown. Examination qualifying for rank of senior-sergeant: Sergeants Charles Edward Roach, Michael Flanagan, Daniel Joseph O'Neill, Charles Peterson, Edward Finch, George Sivyer, Constable Alec Howard Barnes. Examination qualifying for rank of sergeant: Passed whole examination, Constable George James Paine. Passed in evidence, prescribed statutes, Police Force Act and regulations, and police and detective duties: * Detective Charles Augustus Lambert, "Constable Edward Burnett, *Constable John Isbister (Wellington), "Constable Richard Graham Wade, *Detective Ernest Carlyle Jarrold (Wellington), *Constable William Dunlop Thorn, "Constable Sydney King. Passed in arithmetic, geography, and English: Constable Alexander Bisset, Constable Denis Vaughan, Constable William Israel Trask. •Denotes completed examination; previously passed in literary section. The papers on evidence and prescribed statutes were examined by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., those on the Police Force Act and regulations, and police and detective duties by a board, consisting of Mr. Riddcll, Superintendent Wohlmann, and Inspector S. Rawlc, and those on the literary subjects by Mr. R. Darrocli, headmaster of the Terrace School, Wellington.
