LONDON, 2nd November. It is gathered that; the Brit_fi'--:_u-thorities are playing the part of. observers in the hope of finding ways of stimulating the distribution of Britain's surplus people, and more satisfactorily using the British Parliament's yearly votes for overseas .settlement, the bulk of ■ which now revert ;to the Treasury as unexpended balances..
The sub-committee dealing with overseas settlement is now discussing th< possibilities in individual ' Dominions. To-day it was privately outlined wnat Australia hoped "to do, and * to-moCTOHr Canada will explain her plans.
