SERIOUS ACCIDENT
CAUSED BY FLYING STICK.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIHI, 2nd November
A serious accident, the circumstances of which aro surrounded by mystery, occurred to Mrs. Bernard Roberts, of Waihi, who was proceeding to the Thames races with her husband, who was driving, and Miss Poppy Waluutt. It appears that, when they were approaching Puriri, a stout stick, several foot in length, came hurtling through the air with considerable force, striking Mrs. Roberts on the loft cheek, and inflicting severe lacerated wounds to an eye and bruises on the cheek. The force of the blow rendered Mrs. Roberts temporarily unconscious, and first aid had to be rendered at Puriri. On arrival at Thames she was medically attended, after which she returned to Waihi. The injured lady is now confined to her bed. Statements by the other occupants of the car go to show that the stick appeared to have been deliberately thrown by some person con^r, .i fl~n.l^'l-jß.^~.+.^»^._?.a.«.«^,_-;4;lwv~^ n,_.-.—_,_,»;-.,
