JUDGING PROCEEDING

PALMERSTON N., This Day.

Fur the opening day of the Manawatu A. and P. Association's Spring Show tho weather is fine and the prospects are excellent. Tho entries in the various classes are well up to standard, and tho total exceeds that of last year by over 400. The horses, cattle, and .sheep show an increase over last year, and there is also an increase in tho pigs. This is. particularly gratifying in view of tho special efforts made to encourage the breeding of pigs in New Zealand, As usual, the industrial exhibition provides much that is of interest to the visitors, and it includes a fine exhibit by tho Railway find Publicity Departments. Judging is proceeding to-day In file. home iiidustrics, needlework, photography, and art sections. In prnfess'ioiml photography class 10. T. Robson (Wellington) gained the trophy for tho most points. The Wellington competitors also figured in the amateur classes, S. E. Cousins securing a couple of firsts.

Tho thoroughbreds, trotters, and pigs will bo judged this afternoon. The cattle anil sheep will- not be judged until to-morrow.

There ia a big influx of visitors to Palmcrston, and big attendances arc expected at the ahow.
