KING'S THEATRE.
A Vjctor Seastrom production, with Norma' Shearer and Lon Chancy in the leading, roles, is now showing successfully at the King's Theatre, entitled The Tower of Lies." The story is from Selina Lagcrlof's prize novel, "The Empercr of Portugallia," and is a strong dramatic story'in.a picturesque Nordic setting, involving the fortunes of Jan and Katrina, tenants on the farm of kindly old Eric Gunnerson, and their daughter, Goldy. Jan,-who is inordinately fond of Gold.', is somewhat of a visionary, and to him and his -Goldy the farm is an imaginary kingdom," of which Goldy is the Empress, and he the Emperor. Lon Chancy gives a very strong characterisation of the old'farmer, and Miss Shearer is very charming as Goldy. The programme also includes comedy, scenic specialty, and gazette. The King's orchestra, under Mr. A. H. Jerome, provides excellent music.
