(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") - AUCKLAND 30th October. At the council of the Auckland Institute yesterday a letter was received from the Philosophical Society of Canterbury with a resolution supporting the attitude of the New Zealand Institute in respect of the introduction of foreign plants and animals to the national parks, and expressing tho hope that prompt measures would be taken in particular to eradicate at any cost the heather now growing in the Tongariro National Park. ■ Professor Thomas agreed that everything possible should bo done to proserve the national character of the j Park, and on. his motion the council gave its support to the representations of Canterbury.
