RUAHINE FROM HOME.

An arrival in the stream at 8 a.m. yesterday was the New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Ruahine, from London and Southampton, via Panama. She berthed at Pipitea Wharf at 12.30 p.m. to disembark her passengers. The Ruahine loaded at London, and left there at 12.30 p.m. on the 23rd September for Southampton, arriving there, at 6 a.m. on the 24th September. Passengers and mails were, taken aboard, and the vessel sailed at 2._. D p.m. the same day. Fair weather prevailed till arrival at Curacao at 5 p.m. on the oth October. The passengers had a run ashore while the ship replenished her oil bunkers. The vessel sailed again at 3 a.m. on the 7th October, and ar> i ■ t <.'..ou at 5 a.m. on the oth October. The Ruahine passed through the Canal the same morning, and arrived at Balboa at 2.45 o'clock in the afternoon. The pass.ngers were given the opportunity, of another run ashore as the vessel did not sail till 8.10 o'clock at' night. Soon after leaving Balboa, exceptional'y cold weather was experienced. The Ruahine arrived off Pitcairn Island at 8.30 p.m. on the 30th October. A stay of an hour and a half was made off the island, while three passengers for Wellington were taken aboard, flood weather was experienced up till last Friday, when a strong northerly gale was experienced. There conditions lasted until arrival in port. The Ruahine occupied 36 days 4 hours on the voyage. Captain E. T. Smith is in command of the Ruahine, and his officers are:—Chief, Mr. J. Laird; second, Mr. S. Butler; third, Mr. J. L. Hamer; fourth. Mr. G. Chaplin; surgeon. Dr. L. de Courcy llarston. F.R.C.S., L.R.C.P.; chief enginer, Mr. ... White; second, Mr M. Fouhy; third, Mr. J. W. Fulton; fourth, Mr. J. K. Campbell; fifth, Mr. F A. Whitehead; sixth. Mr. O. R. Pearce; seventh, Mr. D. J. Webb; chief freezer, Mr. W. Russell; second freezer, Mr. C. X. Jaques; electrician, Mr. R. James; steward-io-charge, Mr. C. AY. Fraser. From AVellington the Ruahine is to proceed to Auckland and Bluff, to unload the remainder of her cargo. The Ruahine brought 115 saloon and 400 third-class passengers, 250 of the latter being assisted immigrants. The passenger list wa« published on Monday last.
