RUMOUR OF MARTIAL LAW
MR. COOK WARNS GOVERNMENT.
LONDON, 13th October. Mr. A. J. Cook, secretary of the Miners' Federation, speaking at Old Basford, said he was informed that if the federation on Thursday decided to carry on the fight the Government proposed to declare martial law in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Midlands. Ho warned the authorities not to irritate hungry men.
