(By Telegraph.) "(Special to "The Evening Pojt.") "AUCKLAND, This Day. A particularly daring' burglary occurred on Tuesday ovening when a raid was made 011 the premises of W. W. Piatt, furrier, Welleslcy street West, and furs valued at '£150 were stolen. The door was forced with a jemmy. The thief appears to have' been a connoisseur, for, after choosing a fur coat from the window, he made a. careful selection of fox furs of the latest styles and shades. "It might have been .worse," said Mr. Piatt yesterday, "as'l was notcarrying such heavy and valuable stock as in the early part of the' season." ' On Wednesday night the store of the Hume Pipo Company, Penrose, was broken into, and a quantity of gelignite, detonator caps, and fuse was stolon. ■ Nothing else was removed. The burglars were evidently in quest of explosives, probably with -a view lo breaking safes. -..,;. A building situated at the corner of .o'Council and Shortland streets was also visited by burglars. , On' the top floor the offices of the Rev. George. Coate_, of the Toe H movement, and those of James'Warner were entered, but nothing was removed.
