Dramatic action followed the inquest on the victims of the Drumcollogher cinema fire. The cinema operator, Patrick Downey, and the owner, "William Fordo, were arrested after the jury's verdict, .that they were guilty of carelessness as evidenced by the fact that naked candles were placed near the film, and that ono overturned, igniting the film.
According to the police, if only somebody had thought to smash a thin partition, all might have escaped and leached tho ground floor safely.
Forty-eight victoms were identified in tho debris of a fire in an old barn at Drumcmlogher, County Limerick, the upper story of which was used by a cinema show. Evidence at the inquest showed extraordinary carelessness on the part of the operator in leaving loose film lying about, and in using a projector not isolated from tho audience.
