METHODIST THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE
A distinguished visitor to Wellington this week is the principal of the Metho- . dist Theological Institution, the Rev. C. H. Daws, 8.A., D.D., who has been visiting, various parts of the Dominion in the interests of the new college scheme. The Methodists have secured a splendid git« for the new college in Grafton road, Auckland, and the principal has had great success in his appeal to the members of the denomination for £40,000 to erect a suitable building. The design for the college was selected from the entries of 22 architects, and will be a commodious and worthy structure. Dr. Laws is visiting the Methodist Churches of Wellington, and hopes to have a liberal response to his appeal. On Sunday afternoon last the principal addressed a largo gathering of young men and young women representing the Bible classes of the city. The ground floor of the Taranaki Street Church was filled by the young people, and Dr. Laws spoke of the formative influences that had moulded his own life—the call of duty, the love of the Bible, the call to service, and, above all, the sense of the claims of Jesus Christ.
