DEFEATS WINDBAG -AND RAPINE.

After a heavy night's rain glorious weather marked the Tattersall's tSlub Spring Meeting's opening at Randwlok. The going was good and _c attendance ver. large. , , Principal Interest centred In the Chelmsford Stakes, where an exciting duel was expected between—Windbag and Limerick. The rape was run at a solid pace, although the field was small. The Derby favourite, Limerick, was second to King. Val most of the way. Windbag was fifth, but 'moved* "up smartly rounding tho bend. By then, however, Limerick had established such a lead as enabled him to win. Results :— HURDLES RACE; about two miles. Grosveuor, by Eaton, Lad—Blackacre 1 ■May Day, by Flippant—May Dance 2 Mount Marta, by Mountain .Knight—Marta 3 Nine started. May Day made an effort to catch Grosvenor in the straight, but hit' the last hurdle, and Grosvenor came on and won by four lengths, with Mount Marta, who finished fast from the last jump, a longth and a half behind May Day. Time, 3mln 24% sec. . TRAMWAY HANDICAP; seven furlongs. "-.;san, by Valais—Lady San 1 Aorangl by Newmarket—Poor Clarice .... 2 Cawnpore, by Lucknow—Loantona 3 Twenty-three started. Including Giggle. Fujlsan led Into the straight, and when the field was headed for home ran to the front, led past the distance, and won by two len-'hs and a half. Cawnpore ■-- ♦'- of a length away third. Limerick led Into the straight, and at tho distance was well clear of Rapine and Windbag. The latter, on the rails, was unable to catch Limerick, v.lio won by two lengths, with Rapine three-quarters of a 1 -sth, away from Windbag. Time, lmln 52 _ sec. Munro, the rider of Win-baj, said his mount was not going well at any stage of tho race. SPRING HANDICAP; one mile and a quarter. Chalder, by Buckwheat—Althorpe 1 Larkspur 2 Rcsourco 3 Seventeen started, including Runnymede. Chalder ran to the front at the half-distance, and although Larkspur mado a good lato run ho failed by a length and a half to catch the winner, while Resource was threo lengths behind Larkspur. Time, 2min 7sec.
