CALENDAR REFORM

LEAGUE OF NATIONS PLAN

FIXED DATE FOR EASTER

EQUAL DIVISION OF YEAE,

(fruited Press Association.—Copyright.) (Australian-New Zealand Cablo Assn.) LONDON, 30th August.

Eeformation of the calendar throughout tho world, by a fixed date for Easter, is recommended by the League of Nations sub-committee, and on it the Assembly will, debate shortly.

The "Daily Chronicle," commenting on the roport, advocates the adoption of tho suggestion that Easter Day should always be tho second Sunday in April, to which the Anglican and Eoman Churches are agreeable, though the Greek Church is uncertain.

The report suggests further alternatives: First, to divide the year into quarters, each containing two thirtyday months and one thirty-one day month, the last day of the year being a "dies non"; secondly, thirteen twenty-oight-day months, with the same "dies non," whereby every date will always be the same d;iy of the week. Leap year will be unchanged.
