LODGE MEETINGS

J.t the last fortnightly meeting of the Star of Carterton Lodge, No. 129, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., the N.G. (Bro. J. I. Clarke), previously secretary of tho lodge, was farewelled owing to his liavIng been ordered on transfer to Greymouth. On behalf of the lodge, Bro. w. Barrett, P.G., presented Bro. Clarke with a silver wristlet watch in recognition of his services, and paid a warm tribute to the good work he had rendered the lodge, these sentiments being fullly endorsed by other members, and by visiting officers from Walpau Lodge, Masterton. As a new branch of the Order, Brighter Greymouth Lodge, has just been constituted by the 1.0.0. F. Dominion Organiser (Bro. W. F. Crooke), at Greymouth, Bro. Clarke's experience is expected to benefit them.

Wellcsley Juvenile Lodge, No. 7, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its regular meeting last week, Bro. R. S. Meech, P.G., presiding. There was a good attendance of juvenile and adult members. Three brothers and threa sisters were elected adult members, and initiated to the juvenilo degree. Tho Syllabus Committee reported progress, provision of an honours board was left in tho hands of the Management Committee, and hearty appreciation was accorded to Cleveland Lodge for entertaining tho juvenile members at its last.meeting. A Jocular competition was then held, with the president (Bro. J. Nind, P. 0., P.C.P.), in the chair.

Tho fortnightly meeting of the Wlldey Lodge, No. 107, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Island Bay, was held last Wednesday eveniftg, Bro. A. J. Craighead, N.G., presiding. There was a good attendance of members, Bros. J. H. West, P.G., District Degree Master,'F. Reilly, William Gane Lodge, No. 5, N.S.W., A. G. Christie, P.G., and R. A. Brown, P.G., Zealandla Lodge, also being present. Three candidates wcro initiated in regular form. It was decided to hold a social evening and later a debate between selected teams. . An invitation to attend Zealandia Lodge's next' meeting was accepted, when tho latter will tender supper won as membership competition for previous term.

Maraenul Lodge, No. 124, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Mira■mar, held Its fortnightly meeting last Wednesday evening, Bro. N. Gray, N.G., presiding. There was an excellent attendance of members, Bros. J. Walker, P.G., and A. P. Oldham, P.G., Zealandia Lodge, V. ¥. M'Laren, Murltai Lodge, and G. F. Itudkin, P.G.G.H., District Lodge, also being present. Two candidates were initiated, and two further candidates nominated. Reports of several committees were received, and date suggested by Southern Cross Lodge for ritual competition was accepted, arrangements being made for rehearsals in the interim.

The fortnightly meeting of Waiwhctu Lod"e No. 13(i, 1.0.0.F:, N.Z., Trentham, was held last Thursday evening. Bro. W.--S. Cowloy, N.G., presiding. In addition to local members. Bros. H. Finch, P.U.D.G.M., and G. F. RudMn T.G.G.H., of District Lodge, G. H. Bugs, N.G., and 11. L. Rule, V.G., of Heretaunga Lodge, No. 115, Petone, were also present. One trustee and threo auditors were elected. The district secretary gave particulars of progress In tho district, and a resumo of the report of the Registrar of Frimdly Societies in rotation to the Order.

Southern Cross Lodge, No. 24, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting last Thursday evening, Bro. W. Reilly, N.G., presiding. There was a large attendance, visitors including Bro W. H. Eden, N.G., and officers of Onslow Lodge on an official visit, and Bros. W. J. Grondiri. P. 0., and J. W. Pearson, P.G., Heretaunga Lodge. Three candidates were initiated, and three further candidates nominated. Arrangements were made for ritual practice by tho sitting officers, who will defend tho district ritual trophy against Jlaraenul Lodge, No. 124, at the second September meeting, when a largo gathering of representatives from city and suburban lodges is anticipated.

The fortnightly mooting of Victoria. Bebekah Lodge, No. 2, 1.C.0.F., N.Z., Newtown, was held last Thursday evening, Sister 31. Shepherd, N.G., presiding. There was a large attendance, visitors inclucJiriK Sister M. Scrgcnt, N.G. officers, uml members of liahid Rebcltah Lodge, and Bro. A. ,f. Cniißlicad, N.G., officers and members ofV.'ildey Lodge, on official visits. Invitations were accepted for several social functions during the ensuing fortnight, and official visits were fixed to Esther and Rahiri Hebekah Lodges. The Rebekah 500 shield was then defended against a Rahiri team, the shield belli" retained by 7 point 3to n. Other members were occupied with progressive 500, raid dancing and supper concluded a highly enjoyable evening ,rTi'?, quarterly meetiug of Coronation Lodge, .Vr.A.O.D.. was held on tile 24tli August. It was derided to support thpropo?;:l, and Bros rnju'iii, P.D.P., and Harris, P.A., were appointed delegates to attend any meetings dualina with the proposal. It has been decided V.v.d the lodge shall hold a Christmas Tree gathcrinc this year for tho children of members, and ways and means were discussed for providing tiie funds. Several members have already given or promised various amounts, and it Is hoped that sufficient funds will be forthcoming to make the celebration worthy of the occasion. After the usual routine business had been disposed of the lodge went into harmony, during which Bros. Kueh and Harris gave an exhibition of quoits, the proceeds of which went to the Christmas Tree Fund.
