PARAMOUNT THEATRE,

"Too Much Money," First National's screen version of Israel Zangwill'a stage success, which opened at the Paramount Theatre last evening, embodies a plot remarkable for its originality and daring in its theme. As the title suggests, the burden of riches and its effect on the happiness of a married couple has been worked up into a startling screen story which is most capably handled by Lewis Stone and Anna Q. NUsson. Stone has the part of a wealthy man, wHbse money fails to bring him happiness, _ and who finds himself gradually drifting apart from his wife whom he ardently loves. At length, he puts his money into a safe place, confesses to his wife that he is ruined and waits to see the effect of such news upon her. To his satisfaction and delight, she willingly leaves her splendid home and takes up housekeeping in a small American flat, where the happiness the former palatial residence could not give her comes to her. Poverty puts the usually immaculate Stone in a janitor's suit and Miss Nilsson. who has a reputation for wearing beautiful gowns, in the simple clothes of a housewife. There .are many delightful situations and there are thrills in plenty for those who appreciate excitement. A splendid supporting bill includes a Gaumont Graphic, a Pathe Review, and a most diverting comedy. The Paramount Orchestra plays its usual bright programme of incidental music.
