TRENTHAM NOTES

(By "Vedette.")

Tho-tracks at Trentham are more or loss waterlogged/and accordingly there was little or no fast work thia morning; indeed, some of the trainers did not send their horses to the track at all, but had them out for road work in the hills. It was raining hard between H and 9 a.m., but later overhead conditions improved. There wiil be a general exodus on Monday for the Marton and Wanganui Meetings, and Trentham will bo very quiet during the next week or so.

S. Beed had all his team on the course this morning. Grand Knight and Indian Sage just trotted and cantered. The English horse is coming to hand very nicely. N6te and Nadarino did rather faster work with a furlong sprint down the back, in which they showed plenty of dash. Spode has been taken up again, and was led in her work. Climax and the two-year-olds did easy pace work. Eeid leaves on Monday for Marton and Wanganui. Grand Knight, Note, and Climax will go to Marton, and Climax will return, and Nadarino will replace him at Wanganui. The two-year-olds Tone (Leighton—Class) and Panther (Kilbroney—Pussyfoot) are to go to both places for educational purposes, and will not be raced at Wanganui. H. Telford-goes to Wanganui on Monday with the two-year-old Frenzied Finance (Paper Money—Peronilla) and Modern. They were out on the roads this morning. J. M'Laughlin goes to Wanganui towards the end of next week with Tanadees, Tannadice, Laughing Prince, and Exhibition. Tanadees was in his element this morning on the soft track, and showed plonty of dash. Laughing Prince, who looks in really good order, did nice three-quarter pace work with Tannadiee. He looks a typical early two-year-old, and goes well. J. Gage Williams worked his team on the sand at a steady pace. All Bright went with Fool's Paradise, but Jemedar, Black Cat, and the two-year-old Wild Pigeon worked separately. With tho exception of Fool's Paradise, they leave for the Marton. Meeting on Monday, and then go on to Wanganui. It will be surprising if they do not get their share of the stake money on the trip, for the whole four are in good nick. A. Goodman will not have his horses at either Feilding or Wanganui, but contemplates doing the Dannevirke Meeting later on. Black Mint was noticed striding out in good style this morning. .

H. Lorigan goes to Feilding and Wanganui with Orchid, Gauntlet, Inoe, and Humoresque. Orchid will not race at Feilding. Gauntlet is. to contest the hurdlo vaces, in whicli he will be ridden by' I. Tilson.

Hokioi continues to show great improvement in his appearance, which reflects credit on D. M'Cauley. ■ Few would recognise in him now the attenuated specimen who raced on the last day o.f the Trentham Meeting. He goes to Feilding on Monday. L. Brown has Joyeuse in good, nick, and he intends to take that filly and Star, Chamber to the Marton, Wangamii, and Dannevirke Meetings. Joyeuse looks very well. Lady Passenger (D. Butler) was schooled over three hurdles this morning, giving a first-class display; J. Lowe sent his horses Star Eanger Bourse, and Assert for exercise on the hi!Js. Bourse may be a runner 1 in the Debutante Stakes at Wanganui. W. Young has a team of four to race at the Marton and Wanganui Meetings, including Axle and Eoyal Game. Axle should be hard to beat in short distance hurdle races.
