DAIRYING RESULTS AND FOREBODING.
At tho IBth annual nmtlnr of the White Cliff:) Co-operative Dairy Company, reported by the "Taranakl News,* the secretary (Mr^ B. Pepperell) compared, the results with thoso of another dairy, company which had deposed of its produce $n the same way and which had a lower test,. Tho lower testing factory paid out Is 8y.(l per lb of fat against White Cllffs's Is IVzi, arid it would appear on a butter-fat basis that White Cliffs had a less favourable pay-out, but calculated at per 10001b of milk White Cflffs came oui best, as White Cliffs, with a 4.4 ttest, liad averaged £3 lls per 10001b, and tha other company, with a 3.85 test, averaged £ti 3s Gd per 10001b.
Mr. Freeth said lie thought the suppliers were up against a stiff proposition this year. Hate 3on farm property had been raised, and he saw that tho Government wa3 going to extend tho liabilities for accident insurance. Then tho factory assistants were asking for an extra 8s a week. While tho farmers were to receive a benoflt from tho sale of day-old calves, tho slaughtermen were asking for an increase In wages. Thfa manufacturers were asking for additional tariff protection, and the Government wero instituting the payment of a dole. Farmers could not stand those Impositions, and tho Government should be warned. Wool, lambs, meat, daily produce, and everything the farmer touclied were going down. He criticised the new system of pay-out by the Dairy Control Bo)ird, and said that It would be Iniquitous if tjio small companies wera to be penalised in faitaur of tho larger companies. .
A motion was passed emphasising that "the grave Injustices suffeogd under the Act by tho small companies wjftl eventually prove the undoing of the Control Board. Tho enormous losses sustained and tfhe huge expense of insurance, depreciation, storage, and interest will no doubt leave a lasting impression on the minds of dairy farmers when the final returns como to hand.".
