"Ratepayer" (Brooklyn) writes suggesting that the City Council is not giving the Acting-Town Clerk a square deal. The course now being followed, the writer suggests, will result in the appointment of n. man who will be a figure-head. Tho pros out Acting-Town Cleric will have to instruct him in his duties. Under these eircunistances it would be much fairer to appoint to the office the man who> will be required to elo the work.
For the relief of rates, £50,000 will be available this year from Nottingham gas department and tramway*.
