QUEEN'S THEATRE.
"The Golden Strain," Peter B. Kyne's great story, will be finally shown to-night at. the Queen's Theatre. Briefly, the story is of a young army officer, who at first almost broke his father's heart by showing a "yellow streak," which in the end he conquers. An excellent supporting bill includes latest Gazette, scenic, and comedy. Seething with intrigue, surrounded by treachery, yet full of romance, Russia as il was in Tsarist days forms tho background for the commencement of the Fox attraction "Siberia," which is stated to be one of the costliest and most gigantic productions ever undertaken. It opens a week's season with .to-morrow's showing at- the Queen's Theatre. A huge cast of over 20 stars and a supporting ensemble running into thousands, enact the varied roles, Alma Rubens, Lou Tellegen, Edmund Lowe, and Tom Santschi being the most prominent names. "Siberia" is a 1526 adaptation of Bartley Campbell's thrilling dramatic work which experienced phenomenal success on its first appearance as n novel. In tho production months were spent by Russian experts designing dazzling gowns for the women appearing in the orgies of the Winter Palace. More than a score of wolves were used in thp scones showing the hero and heroine battling for freedom oa *h» whito wastes of Siberia, while the other spectacular scenes, including _the famous salt mines oi Siberia, are merely regarded as a matter of course as the big drama moves to iin astounding climax. A special prologue i? to be given by tho distinguished Sydney dancer, Miss Rene Mascotte-Taylor. Miss Taylor created nothing short of a furoro in her last appearance in this city.
