PAET OP BUILDING DESTROYED,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVEBCAEGILL, This Day. At 1.30 this morning a flro occtarred at the Sugar of Milk and Casein Company's new factory at Edendale.' The outbreak started in the packing-room, and rapidly spread to the stocks. This part of the building and the drying plant were destroyed, but the workmen by great efforts saved the main building and the valuable machinery. It is. impossible to estimate at present the loss. The buildings and contents. are covered in the Guardian Office. The factory, built of ferro-concrete,: was completed about a year ago' to replace the original structure which was destroyed by fire. > ■'• ■ '
CHEISTCHTJECH, This Day.' A two-storied wood dwelling in Lower High street was discovered on fire at 11.51 o'clock last night. The outbreak originated on the first floor,'arid.spread throughout the building, which was considerably damaged. Tho occupiers were Maddrcu Bros., rope manufacturers, and tho house was used for picking over-the waste products. Tho.brigade was called to the building only ; three days ago. The building was owned by tho Countess do la Pasture, who lives in England. The contents were covered in an insurance) company in Australia. GORE, This Day. A dwelling house of sis rooms, owned by Mr. Murray M'Noe, was destroyed by fire at North Chatton. There were no fire fighting appliances available. The insurance on the house is £800 intho Farmers' Mutual Office.
