AUCKLAND TRAMPERS
INCREASING ACTIVITY.
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post") : AUCKLAND, 20th August. A reproaoh . often levelled : against Aucklandera is that they are.too fond of riding in the trams and .buses and motor-cars and that, walking exercise is neglected. Something is being done to remove this reproach. The activities of tho Auckland Tramping Club are growing with the rapidly increasing membership, and every week-end, despite the unfavourable weather conditions, a good muster attends the tramps to places of interest many miles from the city.
The .average attendance at these outings has been twenty, and the lady members of tho club have been represented at all of them. Recent visitors from the Tararua Tramping Club of Wellington who have joined in the outings with the members of tho Auckland Club say that Auckland is a splendid district for tramping. They have been delighted with tho beautiful bush country which is within twenty miles of the city, but which is largely unknown to many Aucklanders.
