STARTING TO-DAY
WEATHER NOT TOO FAVOURABLE
WICKET AT THE OVAL IN GOOD CONDITION.
(United Press Association.—Copyright.) (Router's Telegram.) (Received 14th August, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 13th August. The wicket at Kennington Oval, which was covered, has not been injured to any extent by the night's heavy rain, and neither the pitch nor the outfield is soft. On the contrary, the wicket is comparatively firm, and the pitch at present is drying naturally. Hobbs is of the opinion that it will be a wonderful wicket if there is no moro rain, and will play easily. The weather to day, however, is not promising, and is cool and overcast. (Received 14th August, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, 13th August. Rain is falling in London and this evening's forecast is for cloudy weather, with an occasional warm drizzle.
