MANNISH MILLINERY
There is a strong possibility that women this season will wear hats like those of a toreador or a Valentino (says a writer in the London "Daily Mail"). Every one in the millinery trade is heartily tired of the übiquitous jam-pot hat as are many of the wearers themselves, said the head of a millinery firm which is launching these new shapes. In finding a new style we realised that because women have adopted a mannish style of coiffure they would be well suited by a mannish type of millinery. The "Valentino" hat is, however, a feminised version o£ the original, for its brim may curve slightly, while appropriately perfumed roses nestle under the brm. Or there may be a narrow piece of ribbon or silk sewn round part of the inner brim to suggest the characteristic Spanish handkerchief which is tied closely on the head. The average height of the crowns of the new hats is sim, the brim being about l%in wide.
