THOMPSON ESSON SHIELD.

The annual Rugby match between tho Lands and Survey Department and theTreasury took place on Kolburn Park on Monday afternoon under favourable conditions. A fast and onjoyable game was won by tho Treasury by 12 points to 3. Tries were scored for tho winners by Bridges, Learn}', Veitch, and Woods, while Wogan scored tho only try for Lands and Survey, holders of tho Thompson Esson Shield. Others prominent for tho winners were Upchurch, Barker, and Ashwin, while Ngahuia, Toolull, Eobb, and Croinic were conspicuous on tho losers' side. The Treasury also succeeded in winning tho junior game, tho score in tlii3 case being 20 points to nil.
